DESCRIPTION: This species is native to southern Mexico (Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas) and Central America (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua). This species was described by John Gilbert Baker in 1887. Flabellata is an air plant that can actually be planted in a fast draining media like orchid bark mix or perlite and peat moss. Flabellata produce an outstanding red bloom with multiple bracts. We sell the Rubra variety, which tends to turn maroon in color during bloom. This is quite an outstanding air plant in many ways.
